Some Good Friday music for you (just not that “Good Friday Music“):
Here is a brief excerpt from Part the Second of Handel’s Messiah (“Surely He hath borne our griefs,” “And with His stripes we are healed,” “All we like sheep,” and “All they that see Him / He trusted in God”). Sir Neville Marriner conducts the orchestra and chorus of the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields.
The excerpt is taken from the 1992 recording of the 250th Anniversary performance of Messiah in Dublin.
One of my favorite parts of the entire oratorio is the brief tenor solo “All they that see Him,” (sung here by the late Jerry Hadley) and the following chorus, “He trusted in God.” Powerful music. (Click HERE to go straight to that moment).
