Back so soon? Live tweeting Don Giovanni at LA Opera tonight

Opening night for Los Angeles Opera’s latest production of Don Giovanni isn’t until this coming Saturday, Sept 22nd, but I’ll be back at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion tonight, live tweeting the final dress rehearsal.  Unlike last Saturday’s gala opening of I Due Foscari (The Two Foscari), this time I’ll be in the front of the house, watching the goings-on from my usual Loge-eye view.

Don Giovanni is almost always a big box office draw, but the clincher for this run with most people will be the appearance of hunky Ildebrando D’Arcangelo in the title role.  Mrs. CKDH is a big fan (strictly because of his great voice, of course).   I’m sure there are others of you out there who appreciate the full package he brings . . .  get your head out of the gutter, I meant operatic package:  vocal skill, acting prowess, and — well, let’s face it, the guy looks pretty good.

I put the over/under on how many different times he appears in an open front shirt (if not totally shirtless) at a relatively modest two.  We’ll see how close I am to reality.

If you want to follow along to see if I’m right, the hashtag for tonight is #LAOGiovanni.  A detailed review to follow before Saturday night.
